Mother Daughter Portraits {brown eyed girl annapolis}

I'm so very excited to have been invited to the Mother / Daughter Event hosted by Brown Eyed Girl Surf Shop in downtown Annapolis. I'll be there doing tiny sessions (see details below)

The details:
The Tiny Photo Session brought to you by Brown Eyed Girl and Photographer Tracy Dietrich!

How does the Tiny Session differ from a regular photo session?
For one child, the session is ten minutes. If you have two or more children the session length is fifteen minutes.

How many images will I get to choose from?
Generally there will be 8 to15 images. Numbers may vary as each session is different. Please keep in mind that we post only the best images in an effort to make your selections easier.

How will I view my images?
Two weeks after your photo session (Tuesday August 25th) your images will be made available on a private web gallery. You may order images for the online web gallery.

How long do I have to decide?
Your images will be available in your online gallery for one week only, no exeptions. Purchased images are kept on file for one year should you decide to place a reprint order, un-ordered images are deleted.

Is there a cost for these Mini Sessions at Brown Eyed Girl?
The Tiny Session is just $20 and includes a $20 print credit! You can thank Brown Eyed Girl for this incredible discount!

How do these Brown Eyed Girl Tiny Sessions compare to your other Photo Sessions?
By comparison, our regular Mini Sessions are $100 for one twenty minute session and $200 for a full (1-2hr) session. Our full sessions can take place at the studio or at the location of your choice.

What to wear?
Brown Eyed Girl has a great selection of clothing for kids up to size two. Please check it out!

Texture
Pick pieces that are playful and full of texture. Textured fabrics photograph beautifully so things like denim, cable knits, sweaters, corduroy, linen and eyelet dresses are excellent choices. Need some more ideas? How about embroidery, ruffles, ribbing, v-necks, buttons, and patterns.

Layers
Layer clothing for a fun look or choose accessories and hats to jazz up an outfit. We can remove, adjust, and add elements to an outfit to create a variety of styles.

Color

So many colors to choose from!

One approach is to choose bold color and pair it with neutrals like denim, beige, sage green, grey, or navy (navy in particular photographs beautifully.) Jewel tones such as deep purple, sapphire blue, turquoise, ruby red and emerald green are a few great color choices. Mixing solid colors with textured clothing can create a special dynamism in the image. Tempting as it will be, DO NOT wear white, black, or pale-colored clothing or accessories as these tend to photograph poorly and lose their detail and dimension in the final image.

Style
First and foremost, have fun!

If you need some tips, you can choose something "classic" like a denim bottom and long-sleeved top. Clothing that is classic in style can really create a timeless look.

Stay away from clothing that would be considered "formal attire" or the image can look too "buttoned up" and unnatural. At the other end of the spectrum, be selective with T-shirts and polo shirts; try pairing them with dark denim or adding layers to keep the outfit visually interesting.

Everyone should be in clothing that is fitted to their current size. Clothing that fits loosely can look sloppy in an image, so make sure everyone tries on their ensemble before the day of the shoot to ensure proper sizing.
Dressing the Family

When choosing clothing for the entire family, try choosing a similar style and then slightly vary the textures and colors. If each individual's clothing forms a piece of a larger family outfit, coordinate the family's look just as you would the pieces of your own outfit. That way, each individual look different and fun while still fitting together for one image.

Absolutely, you may order loose prints which can be inserted into photo cards or choose a press-printed folded card option, where the image is printed directly onto a heavy card stock.
